Ken Loach in conversation on In Two Minds (1967) and Family Life (1971)

Here’s an interview I did with legendary British director Ken Loach, following the screening of his 1967 BBC Play In Two Minds for the Locating Medical Television: The Televisual Spaces of Medicine and Health in the 20th Century International Conference in November 2020. It was organised by ERC BodyCapital, Université de Strasbourg & the Science Museum Dana Research Centre, with the support of the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin.

Thank you to Ken and to his assistant Emma for setting it up. It was a really pleasure and honour to talk to Ken about In Two Minds and Family Life – two really important films within our DoM research – as well his wider career. Also thanks to Tricia Koenig and the ERC BodyCapital team for a great conference and the opportunity to collaborate on this and present my research on the representations of.electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in film and television in the long 1960s.
